Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a modality that employs the use of hypnosis to achieve a therapeutic outcome.
  • What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a mental state of focused attention. The relaxation you achieve during a mindfulness session lays the foundation required for healing work to be done at the subconscious level in a hypnotherapy session. Mindfulness teaches you to focus your attention inward, and once this is achieved, hypnosis work can start by communicating with the subconscious where all the emotional issues reside. Hypnosis is mindfulness with a purpose.
  • Is hypnosis sleep?
Not at all. During a hypnotherapy session, you remain aware of the surroundings, you hear the therapist's voice, you can move and re-adjust in the chair if required; you remain in control throughout the whole session.
  • Is hypnosis mind control?
No one can make you cluck like a chicken. If you have seen this in Vegas, it is because the volunteers allowed this to happen, they wanted to have fun and act silly, they were fully engaged while other ones were sent off the stage because they would not be onboard with the suggestions. You cannot be made to act on suggestions that are contrary to your beliefs or values. Hypnotherapy is 100% a collaborative process between the therapist and the client. As a client, you have to be fully ready to make the change and fully engaged in the process, otherwise the session will not lead to the desired outcome.
  • Can I be hypnotized?
You are being in a state of hypnosis every single day while you watch TV, scroll social media, read a book, drive or listen intently to someone. With this being said you are a big part in this process where the therapist's role is to be your guide in this journey. Your willingness to cooperate and follow the therapist' instructions is what determines how good of a subject you are and the chances of success.
  • Are there risks to hypnotherapy?
The only possible risk is that you see no change due to not being ready deep inside even if at the conscious level you thought you were ready. This is a non-drug alternative that utilizes relaxation techniques and positive suggestions while engaging your imagination towards creating positive mental outcomes. You may spontaneously recall memories, have dreams or you may feel tearful during a session depending on the objective of the work being done.
  • Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
You cannot get stuck in hypnosis as you are the one in control and can come out of the relaxed state at any time. This modality in fact helps you gain more control over your feelings, thoughts and behaviors.
  • Is this long-term therapy?
This therapy usually requires a few sessions. The effectiveness of it stems in its approach of engaging the subconscious mind where all the emotions, feelings, behaviors and traumas reside and accessing the root cause of unwanted emotions or behaviors.
